Do Players Need A Release To Change ENYTB Teams?
No.ENYTB does not have anything called a release. Instead player movement is regulated by placing annual and lifetime limits on each team as to how many players it can take from any other ENYTB registered team (head-to-head cap) as well as ALL other ENYTB teams combined (overall cap). This system was adopted by ENYTB in 2012 and is known as the Player CAP System.
Basic Rules Of ENYTB's Player CAP System:
1 - Players are allowed to change ENYTB teams once per year
2 - Prior to APR 1 – all players are eligible to change teams
3 - After APR 1 – only inactive players are eligible to change teams
Remember: Nobody releases anybody.
Q. How does a player become inactive?
A. If a player notifies his prior team prior to APR 1 that he will not be returning to play for them in the upcoming season (preferably in writing), that team is obligated to place the player on its DNR (Did Not Report) list, which makes the player inactive. If the team fails to do so and the player produces dated evidence that he informed the team before APR 1 that he wouldn't be returning, the league can make the player inactive.
If a player fails to provide such notification prior to APR 1 it is the club's choice whether to accommodate the player's request i.e., they are under no obligation to do so. If they do place the player on their DNR list thereby making him inactive, he is then eligible to join another ENYTB team in the current season as allowed by ENYTB's player CAP system (per item 3 above).
