    Fines

ENYTB members can incur fines for various behaviors ruled detrimental to the welfare of the league e.g., bad sportsmanship or certain rule violations, but for the most part, fines are used to enforce ENYTB's rules re: schedule reliability.

In general, once the season has begun, teams are expected to play their games as scheduled and when they can't, to forfeit.

    Non-playing forfeits carry a fine of $75/game.

Once the season has begun, ENYTB rules allow teams a very limited amount of schedule flexibility provided they follow league protocol wherein they provide their opponent timely advance notification (request for schedule change is entered to the website a minimum of 7 days prior to the date of the game) and their opponent does not reject the request via the website. When the above conditions are met, the game can be changed w/o penalty.

There are two types of in-season schedule changes allowed: the non-weather postponement and the no harm no foul cancellation. The league allows each team only two such changes of each type per season.

NOTE: Weather postponements are, of course, permissible as well. In fact, weather postponements don't have to be made up under ENYTB rules unless both teams agree to make it up.

ENYTB also requires all games to be updated online within 7 days following the scheduled date of the game. This can be as simple as entering a score or marking the game weather postponed or going through the schedule change process outlined above. Failure to keep your online schedule updated in this manner results in a PASSED game which includes a fine, same as a forfeit.

Fines are set at approximately the same rate as the avoided umpire fee i.e., $75. This means ENYTB fines should have no real impact on a team's operating budget.

All fine money is kept in a separate league account and is used to benefit the general membership in the form of tournament hosting subsidies, thereby resulting in lower hosting surcharges for ENYTB members.

TIMELY PAYMENT OF FINES...All ENYTB members who incur fines are expected to send a check to the League Office postmarked within 72 hours of when the fine was incurred.
